The Story
WÜD Chocolates & Gifts began with a simple yet powerful tradition: my mother, a high school Arabic language teacher, and her colleagues would gather daily over coffee, sharing pieces of chocolate. These small moments became a source of joy, strength, and connection—a gesture of WÜD, the Arabic word for love and affection.
My mother, Auntie Kefaya, always did her best to bring the finest chocolates to share with her friends, knowing how much they appreciated luxurious treats. She cherished it even more when one of her friends brought a box of exquisite chocolates. For them, these moments weren’t just about indulgence; they were about celebrating each other, savoring life’s little luxuries, and strengthening the bonds of friendship.
As her children, we eagerly waited for her to come home, hoping she had an extra piece of chocolate in her bag. When she did, it felt like her love language—a simple yet meaningful gesture that stayed with me as I grew.
Years later, as a student at my mother’s school, I witnessed the deep friendships she had built with her colleagues. These women were pillars of resilience, balancing careers and families while uplifting one another through their daily rituals. Their strength and bond inspired me profoundly.
When I moved to Canada, I missed those meaningful connections. It was then that I realized the power of chocolate to bring people together, spark joy, and celebrate shared moments. I wanted to recreate that sense of community and honor the resilience of Arab women—especially Palestinian women—who embody strength and grace while savoring life’s simple pleasures, like a piece of fine chocolate.
WÜD Chocolates & Gifts was born to do just that. Every box of our chocolates carries the spirit of love, connection, and cultural heritage, blending the richness of Arabic flavors with the universal language of giving back.
WÜD Chocolates is my way of honoring my mother, Auntie Kefaya, and all her friends—women who found joy, strength, and WÜD in each other’s company and inspired generations with their resilience and love. The woman in the photo above is my mother, Auntie Kefaya, whose legacy of love and connection continues to inspire every piece of WÜD Chocolates.
At WÜD, we believe a piece of chocolate can do more than satisfy a craving—it can build bonds, tell stories, and create moments of joy. We invite you to share our chocolates with those you love and experience the WÜD behind every bite.
